From the hustle and bustle of imperial cities like Marrakech, Fez and Rabat, to immediate access to the Sahara dunes from Merzouga and Zagora, each departure town is the ideal springboard for your raid. Choose between the Atlantic coast (Agadir, Tangier, Rabat) and the gateway to the desert (Ouarzazate) for a unique itinerary that combines culture, trails and breathtaking scenery.

Agadir

Located on Morocco's southern Atlantic coast in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas mountains

Casablanca

Located in north-west Morocco, on the Atlantic coast, about 80 km south of Rabat.

Essaouira

Located on the Atlantic coast, Essaouira is less than 200km from Agadir or Marrakech.

Fez

Ouarzazate

Located south of the High Atlas Mountains, this town is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Desert". It is famous for its film studios and proximity to the Aït Benhaddou kasbah.

Marrakech

Nicknamed the "Red City", it is an ancient imperial city located near the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.

Rabat

Located on the Atlantic coast. It is distinguished by its blend of modern architecture and historic monuments, such as the Tour Hassan and the Kasbah des Oudayas.

Zagora

Merzouga

Located in south-east Morocco, renowned as the closest and most popular access point to the great sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, at the gateway to the Sahara desert.

Tangier

Located at the northern tip of Morocco, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The best time for your motorcycle tour in Morocco

Choosing the right season is essential to guarantee the best riding and exploring conditions in Morocco. Given the country’s climatic diversity (coast, mountains, desert), two periods stand out as optimal for a motorcycle raid:

The best time to embark on a motorcycle road trip in Morocco is in spring and autumn:

  • Spring (March to May): Temperatures are mild and very pleasant. Landscapes are often verdant after the winter rains, and the Atlas peaks can still be magnificently snow-covered without the major passes being blocked.
  • Autumn (September to November): The summer heat begins to subside, offering perfect temperatures for riding, especially for raids in the Sahara desert. Riding conditions and comfort are optimal.
  • Summer (June to August): Temperatures can become extreme, especially in the south and the desert, where they can exceed 45°oreven 50° in places. However, summer is more suitable if your itinerary focuses on the coastal regions (tempered by the ocean) or the high altitudes of the Atlas Mountains.

  • Winter (December to February): This season can offer mild, sunny days in the south, but the Atlas Mountains experience heavy snowfalls. Some passes may be closed, and nights are very cold everywhere, including in the desert. This is ideal for visiting imperial cities or hiking in the desert, but more restrictive for an extended motorcycle tour.

By choosing spring orautumn, you maximize your comfort and the pleasure of riding on all types of terrain, from the Anti-Atlas tracks to the dunes of the Sahara.
